Night Guard Cracked or Broken?
Night guards take a lot of force from clenching and grinding. Whether a broken one can be repaired depends mostly on what it is made of.
Hard, soft, or dual-layer?
- Hard acrylic guards — rigid and usually thicker. Cracks or broken sections are the type of damage a lab can sometimes repair.
- Soft guards — flexible rubbery material. Tears and bite-throughs generally can't be patched in a way that lasts; replacement is usually better.
- Dual-layer (hard outside, soft inside) — layer separation or cracks are case-by-case.
Signs it's time to stop using it
- A crack that runs all the way through, or a sharp edge.
- It rocks, feels loose, or no longer seats fully.
- Holes worn through from grinding — a sign to talk to your dentist about your grinding, too.
Can Smile Extension repair my night guard?
Our lab works with acrylic appliances. We don't promise night guard repairs until we see yours: send a photo of the whole guard and the damage, and we'll tell you whether it is something we can work on and which package applies — before you pay or ship. If it isn't a good candidate, we'll say so.

- Rinse and brush it each morning with cool water; let it dry in a vented case.
- Keep it away from heat and pets.
